£30,000 per annum + pension
13-month, fixed term contract (December 2010 – January 2012)

Dartington is looking for a dynamic and innovative Archivist and Records Manager to lead the Archives and Collection department for a year. This is a full-time position with a month’s initial handover period starting in December 2010.

Based on a mediaeval estate in South Devon, Dartington is a place of experiment, education and enterprise where the arts, social justice and sustainability come together. Dartington encourages individuality and imagination in its staff and is the ideal place for someone who enjoys working in an innovative and exciting environment. This post is the perfect opportunity for someone wishing to develop their skills in both archives and records management whilst also expanding their knowledge to include management of other types of historic collections.

As Head of Collection and Records Manager you will be leading a small team responsible for interpreting and communicating the history of Dartington and managing its historic collections which range from paper-based archives and film collections through to paintings, gardens sculpture and historic spaces. You will also be working with staff to develop the modern records strategy and support the ongoing work of the charity.

You will need a professional qualification in Archives and Records Management and be able to demonstrate imagination and leadership potential.
